The Beginners Guide to Internet Income

By Robert E Darby

Regardless of our reasons, the objective is to either supplement our current income stream or transition over to a completely different income source such as internet income. But do we want to stay with the traditional income models or step outside of tradition? We are assuming here that you are considering non - traditional methods.

Since we are stepping outside the box so to speak, we might as well make a clean break and not even consider working a traditional pre-determined time period such as 9-5 or whatever. How about a few hours a day or week? How about an office that consists entirely of a lap top computer and a cell phone so you can do business from anywhere in the world?

These kinds of criteria indicate an internet based business. But what if you don't know anything about this stuff? What if you only have basic computer skills? Cheer up, there's hope!

The Challenges

The challenges with generating an internet income are considerable, the learning curves alone are extensive and time and mental labor intensive. For example; you would need to learn how to

  • Build and maintain a web site
  • Optimize the web site for the search engines
  • Get an account with a web hosting company and learn how to interact with them to upload files
  • Learn Internet Marketing which includes; affiliate marketing, adwords, adsense, adcenter, article marketing, social networking, viral marketing, link exchanges and more
  • Learn how to interpret tracking data
  • Decide what kind of business to go into in the first place

All this is starting to sound like a whole new career change, complete with four years of college. Who has the time for this? Realistically, you could probably learn what you need to know in a year or less if you could devote full time to it.

The Home Business Alternatives

Fortunately you are not alone, and the way we know this is by the demand for third party companies that are designed to help the beginner get up and going by providing internet business or home business packages that are supposed to do most of the hard stuff for us. I say supposed to, because you need to be aware that there are still a few shortcut artists out there. That is, shortcut to making money at other peoples expense. So you have to learn how to navigate the rapids along with all the other learning curves.

The good news for the home business beginner, is that there are genuine alternatives out there that really do deliver what they say they will. Some even over deliver, which is unheard of anymore. Ideally the beginner needs to find an organization that will do all the heavy lifting for them and free them up to make the high level decisions like, deciding on how much income you want to make based on how much effort you are willing to invest.

Of course, such organizations are difficult to find because everyone is making the same promotional claims and there are so many 'not quite the real deals' out there. But here, in the beginning, when you're just starting to think about a home business that generates an internet income is the time and place to do your homework. Now, before you make any decision, is the appropriate time to invest your energy into research. Do not get caught up in the hype and the pipe dreams. The rule to follow here is; if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Anything genuine will require you to invest a little hard work. Beware of the set it and forget it and remote millions without you doing anything deals.

Good luck out there,
